🥣 Ingredients For Ginger Turmeric Bone Broth Recipe
To make this anti-inflammatory recipe great for leaky gut, you will simply need to gather a few key ingredients that create nourishing and flavorful broth for soup.
- Chicken or Beef Bones - Remove the meat and set aside for another recipe. Use the entire chicken carcasses, skin and all.
- Filtered Water - I prefer filtered water, but you can also use whatever water you like.
- Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) - I love the flavor of apple cider vinegar (ACV) in this bone broth recipe. There is a tartness with a touch of sweet underlying flavor to this recipe, and also helps extract all the collagen from the chicken and beef bones.
- Celery - This adds another layer of salty flavor to the broth.
- Onion - I like a yellow onion for a bit of milder flavor than a white onion. However, both work equally well to add aromatic flavor.
- Garlic - I highly recommend using fresh garlic in this recipe, but you can substitute with a ½ teaspoon of ground garlic instead.
- Carrots - Carrots balance out the earthiness of the fresh turmeric by adding a touch of sweetness to this broth.
- Ginger - I used fresh ginger for that depth of flavor, but ground ginger works well too.
- Cilantro - If you dislike cilantro and think it tastes like soap, leave it out. If you love cilantro as much as I do, leave it in. 😋
- Turmeric - I love the brand by Further Food, because it contains turmeric, but also adaptogenic herbs and additional super foods. Turmeric is one of the best supplements to help fight inflammation.
- Seasonings - A pinch of salt and pepper enhance all the other ingredient flavor profiles.

๐ Recipe
Ginger Turmeric Bone Broth Recipe
Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken or beef bones
- 6-8 cups water (Enough to fill your stockpot or slow cooker).
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 stalks celery (chopped)
- 1 onion, yellow (rough chopped)
- 3 cloves garlic, fresh (Minced or Smashed)
- ยฝ teaspoon black pepper, ground
- 2 carrots (chopped)
- 3 one-inch slices ginger, fresh
- 1 handful cilantro, fresh
- 1 tablespoon turmeric, ground
- sea salt (to taste)
Instructions
- If you have the time, try roasting the bones in the oven at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. This step is unnecessary, but definitely enhances the flavor of the bones you use. Place bones in your slow cooker. You can also use a large stockpot, but I find it so convenient to use a slow cooker.
- Add in the rest of the ingredients, except the salt. Cook in the slow cooker on low heat for 10-12 hours.
- Add in salt to taste. Remember to start with less and increase to desired taste. Strain the broth through a fine sieve into containers. Let cool before placing it in the refrigerator.
- Refrigerate for a few hours. Spoon off the fat layer on top of the broth, discard. Stir in the turmeric.
- Reheat the broth before serving. This is delicious to drink on its own, or as a base for a turmeric broth soup and stew.

I had a head cold and a sore throat for a few days and made this broth. It's a wonder - my cold and sore throat disappeared a day after drinking the broth. I have a question. Do you think I can freeze some for future use? And if yes, will it keep its health benefits? Thanks.
Laura Villanueva
Hello George. So happy that you found some relief from your head cold by sipping on this delicious bone broth. As for freezing, yes, you can absolutely store this for future use. In fact, that is something I often do myself. Freezing doesn't expose the bone broth to nutrient-destroying elements. It actually helps lock in flavor and preserve those nutrients. There are a few methods to freezing the bone broth. You can freeze in ice cube trays if you want single serve use for certain recipes. Glass mason jars are my personal preferred method. Leave one inch space from the top to allow for expansion. Enjoy.

I absolutely love โค๏ธ it. I have suffered ๐ฅด with colitis over the years. I had part of my colon ๐ฅ removed. Occasionally my colon will act up.
