- Gluten-Free Flour - I used all-purpose gluten-free flour. My preferred brand is King Arthur, because they are certified gluten-free.
- Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips - You can swap the chocolate chips for raw cacao nibs, loaded with magnesium.
- Vanilla Extract - You need this for a slight additional layer of natural sweetness to the recipe.
- Coconut Oil - I typically use a lot of olive oil in my recipes, but I find that in many of my baked goods recipes, I prefer that additional layer of coconut flavor.
- Coconut Sugar - I personally love using coconut sugar in baked goods, but if you must substitute, try brown sugar instead.

Healthy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
Equipment
- 1 Loaf Pan
Ingredients
- 3 ripe banana
- 2 eggs (If vegan, swap with flax eggs)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- โ cup coconut oil
- ยผ cup sugar, coconut
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
- ยฝ teaspoon baking powder
- ยฝ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 ยพ cup all-purpose flour, gluten-free
- โ teaspoon sea salt
- ยฝ cup mini chocolate chips, semi-sweet (Dairy-Free)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease a 9 X 5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
- Combine the wet ingredients first. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mash 3 ripe bananas. Add in the brown sugar and mix until smooth.
- Mix in the 2 eggs or flax eggs if vegan. Mix in the vanilla extract and coconut oil until well combined.
- Combine the dry ingredients. In another mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl and combine until the batter is well combined. Don’t over mix. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the loaf pan and sprinkle the top with extra cinnamon. Bake until golden brown, which is approximately 50 to 60 minutes, depending on your oven. Check with a toothpick, and if it comes out clean, it is done.
- Allow the banana bread to cool before slicing. Then serve gf banana bread with any nut butter or jam of choice.

Store at room temperature for two to four days. Wrap this gf banana bread tightly in plastic wrap to protect against excess moisture.
You can also transfer to the freezer for up to three months. I suggest you slice the banana bread before freezing, so you can take out a slice when you are in the mood for some delicious banana bread. Simply warm-up for 15 minutes in a 350-degree oven, and top with some delicious nut butter.
