You only need a few simple ingredients to make a dairy-free and gluten-free banana bread recipe. The perfect cozy fall recipe.
- Bananas - Adds sweetness, prebiotic power, vitamins, and minerals.
- Eggs - You need a binder for any banana bread recipe, eggs are perfect. However, you can swap it with a flax egg if you want to make vegan banana bread. Need help making dietary swaps for all your recipes? Check out my free Healthy Food Swaps Guide.
- Gluten-Free Flour - I used all-purpose gluten-free flour. My preferred brand is King Arthur, because they are certified gluten-free.
- Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips - You can swap the chocolate chips for raw cacao nibs, loaded with magnesium.
- Vanilla Extract - You need this for a slight additional layer of natural sweetness to the recipe.
- Coconut Oil - I typically use a lot of olive oil in my recipes, but I find that in many of my baked goods recipes, I prefer that additional layer of coconut flavor.
- Coconut Sugar - I personally love using coconut sugar in baked goods, but if you must substitute, try brown sugar instead.
- Cinnamon - This is a traditional warming spice, perfect for all your fall recipes. If you can get Ceylon cinnamon, the quality and taste are superb.
- Baking Essentials - You need baking powder and baking soda for this recipe. Check out my cool baking tip below.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, sea salt, and cinnamon.
Step 4: Combine & Fold
Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
Step 5: Bake to Golden Perfection
Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the top with extra cinnamon if desired. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
