Baobab Health Benefits
So, let's talk about this unknown ingredient, baobab powder. It comes from the baobab fruit in South Africa. It can help reduce inflammation, balance blood sugar levels. Baobab is rich in vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin C. In addition, baobab also contains potassium and magnesium, plus loaded with antioxidants. Baobab powder is perfect not only in smoothies, but also in oatmeal or breakfast porridge. I have also added it to my granola recipes to increase the nutrient content.
Goji Strawberry Sherbet Smoothie Bowl Recipe
INGREDIENTS
- One teaspoon baobab powder
- 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
- 1 freshly squeezed lemon or 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 bananas, sliced and frozen
- 6 ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon dried goji berries
DIRECTIONS
Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. You may need to tamper down the fruit and ice because there is no liquid. If you have trouble blending, add a bit of water, one tablespoon at a time. This is meant to be the consistency of sherbet, not a regular smoothie consistency, but thicker.
GOJI STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE RECIPE NOTES
You can add a touch of honey to sweeten this up if you don't prefer the tartness of this recipe. If you prefer a vegan-only option, add maple syrup in place of the honey. One teaspoon will do the trick.
If you want to make this less of a dessert or snack, and more of a meal, add a scoop of protein powder as you blend it up.
OPTIONAL SMOOTHIE TOPPINGS:
- Fresh fruit, like bananas or strawberries.
- Granola
- Chia seeds
